The Journey

Community Ambassador

The work of getting people who do not yet trust each other into the same room, and keeping them there.

Commitments

Sharing meaningful stories

Leading with integrity

Bridging community gaps

The hardest problem in most rooms is not technical. It is that the people in it do not yet trust each other, and no amount of process fixes that on its own.

Bridging that gap is its own discipline: sharing stories that make one group legible to another, leading in a way that survives scrutiny, and staying in the room after the easy part of the conversation is over. It applies to a delivery team in Nashville and to a community centre on a Saturday afternoon. The mechanics are the same.

The road ahead

This road is newly marked.

The commitment is long-standing; the writing about it is not. Entries will appear here as the work does. If you are already doing this work and want a collaborator, that is a better use of the page than a post — get in touch.

Travelling the same road?

If this is your work too — as a partner, an organiser or an operator — I would rather hear from you than write another post about it.
